Where We Started
American Iron Beds was founded in 1999. The brand's beds have been handcrafted for over 25 years by manufacturing partners in Los Angeles, California, USA. American Iron Beds operates as the DBA and trade name of MPBW Holdings LLC, which acquired the business in January 2026. American Iron Beds is co-owned by Max Portwood and Robert Weiland. Our passion for the character, charm, and old-world craftsmanship of Victorian-era beds drove us to preserve these treasures for modern homes.
Why We Evolved
As we listened to customers, a clear need emerged: the timeless styling of antique iron beds without the premium price of true antiquity. One-of-a-kind antiques couldn't meet growing demand, so we searched for a solution that wouldn't compromise quality.

We discovered what our predecessors knew in the 1800s: American iron beds are simply superior. Thicker-walled tubing, stronger castings, and meticulous hand-welding create beds as solid today as century-old originals. After years of research, we originally founded The American Iron Bed Company in 1999 to deliver museum-quality reproductions and contemporary designs, all made in the USA.
