Not if you choose the Complete Bed (Takes Mattress Only) configuration. It adds slats so the mattress rests directly on the frame.

It depends on the design and configuration. On the Braden, the mattress-only version puts the mattress 12 inches off the floor. Each product page lists the heights for that bed.

What sizes do the platform beds come in?

Full, queen, king and California king, and the Blake Surround also comes in twin. Exact dimensions are on each product page.

How long does a platform bed take?

10 to 14 weeks to make, plus 1 to 2 weeks of shipping.

Our Surround platform beds

Choose from the Braden Surround, with a gently rounded top rail and slender vertical bars; the Blake Surround, with clean vertical bars and substantial corner posts; the Quati Surround, with a sweeping curved headboard; the Sheffield Surround, with robust posts and rhythmic vertical bars; and the Sunset Surround. Each is offered as Complete Bed (Takes Box Spring) or Complete Bed (Takes Mattress Only).

Platform bed or box spring?

With a box spring, the mattress sits on the box spring inside the frame. A mattress-only configuration replaces the box spring with slats. On the Braden, for example, the mattress-only version includes a wood slatted platform and puts the mattress 12 inches off the floor, while the box spring version puts the box spring 8 inches off the floor. Heights vary by design, so check the configuration notes on each product page.
